Commendations to Dr. Nora Baladerian and The Culver City Neighborhood Girl Scouts for their contributions to the Culver City Disabled Community. C O M M E N D A T I O N Dr. Nora J. Baladerian WHEREAS Dr. Nora Baladerian a clinical and forensic psychologist living in Culver City since 1979 has turned her passion for helping people into a lifetime mission of being a voice for people who are disabled; and WHEREAS Dr. Baladerian founded and continues to coordinate annual conventions with the 10th National/ 3rd International Conference on Abuse of Children and Adults with Disabilities held this past year continuing to be the only such conference of its kind in the world; and WHEREAS Dr. Baladerian s numerous positions of involvement include serving as the Director of the Child Abuse and Neglect Disability Outreach Project; Dean of Faculty for the First Online Professional Conference on Abuse and Disability; Director of the Counseling Center of West Los Angeles providing psychotherapy for crime victims with disabilities; Founder of Mental Health Consultants which provides on site training to law enforcement child abuse domestic violence victim advocacy and Adult Protective Services all as applicable to persons with disabilities; is the disability representative to the Children s Justice Act Task Force; and serves as a member of the Violence Against Women Act Task Force representing individuals with disabilities; and WHEREAS Dr. Baladerian led a development team in the writing of a First Responder s Curriculum on Responding to Child Abuse Calls Involving Children with Disabilities; created a training film for law enforcement agencies with approval from the U.S. Department of Justice Office for Victims of Crime anticipated; and conducts training programs to aid community state and national agencies dealing with violence and persons with disabilities; and NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Culver City California hereby commends Dr Nora Baladeri...
