BACKGROUND: Cal MMET was created by the Office of the Governor in 2001 to initiate a regional methamphetamine narcotics focused on combating the growing problem of methamphetamine abuse in the State of California. The program started in Northern California and in 2007 was expanded to include Southern California agencies.
