RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends the City Council (1) award a construction contract to CJ Concrete Construction, Inc. as the lowest responsive and responsible bidder, in the amount of $92,582 for the Higuera Street Sidewalk Improvement Project, PS-036; and (2) authorize the Public Works Director to approve change orders to the contract in an amount not-to-exceed $23,145 to cover contingency costs.


BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION

The Higuera Street Sidewalk Project will construct a new sidewalk on the south side of Higuera Street, between Hayden Avenue and Shaefer Street. These improvements will provide a continuous paved path of travel on the south side of Higuera Street between Schaefer Street and Hayden Avenue.

In September 2024, the Public Works Department/Engineering Division issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) to the City Council approved list of on-call civil engineering firms for engineering design services. Kreuzer Consulting Group was selected and issued a Notice to Proceed on December 17, 2024, for engineering design services.
