RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the City Council approve the final plans and specifications and authorize the publication of a notice inviting bids for construction of the East Washington Boulevard Traffic Signal Fiber Optic Improvements, PL-015.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
The Traffic Signal Fiber Upgrades project will upgrade the existing twisted pair copper wiring serving the 10 signalized intersections listed below with fiber optic cables. Fiber optic cables will significantly improve the City's ability to monitor and manage traffic signals remotely to ensure proper operation, enhance multi-modal functionality, and further the City's ongoing advanced traffic management efforts. Intersections to be upgraded to fiber optic:

* Washington Boulevard & Helms Avenue
* Washington Boulevard & Cattaraugus Avenue
* Washington Boulevard & McManus Avenue/La Cienega Avenue
* Washington Boulevard & La Cienega Boulevard
* Washington Boulevard & Adams Boulevard
* National Boulevard & Wesley Street
* National Boulevard & Hayden Avenue
* National Boulevard & Eastham Drive
