Fulwood (10/18/2006) Staff recommends the City Council accept the work performed by the contractor FS Construction and authorize filing a Notice of Completion for the Curb Gutter and Sidewalk Replacement Project P 428. It is also recommended that the retention funds in the amount of $7 547.50 be released to the contractor after the thirty five day lien period. BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION: the City Council awarded a construction contract On May 22 2006 to FS Construction for the replacement of uplifted damaged or deteriorated sidewalks drive approaches and curb and gutter along selected streets. Due to the favorable low bid the City Council also authorized staff to negotiate additional work not exceeding the project budget of $76 458.69. FS Construction completed the replacement of the sidewalks curb and gutter and drive approaches as required in the original contract. The original contract amount for the project was $57 180.00 and the final construction cost was $75 475.00. There were three (3) change orders issued in the total amount of $18 295.00 for additional replacement of curb gutter sidewalk and drive approaches that were added to the project.
