Fulwood (08/08/07) RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends the City Council approve the purchase of five vehicles (two Ford E350 XLT 15 passenger vans one Ford Expedition and two Dodge Charger black and white police vehicles) and the Code 3 and police radio and accessories for each vehicle for the Police Department s Juvenile Diversion Program. This is to be funded by the asset forfeiture State 15% fund. BACKGROUND: Since 1991 the Culver City Police Department has sponsored a Juvenile Diversion Program which targets at risk youth from 13 17 years of age. This program provides personal caring contact between members of the Police Department and juveniles from our community. Although classroom sessions are held at the police station the participating teens are taken on various off site field trips which include a trip to the California Youth Authority (CYA) as well as weekend field trips where the teens are challenged with various activities.
