RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends the City Council approve the final plans and specifications and authorize the publication of a notice inviting bids for the Sidewalk, Curb Ramp and Driveway Approach Project, PZ-428.


BACKGROUND

The City receives maintenance requests from the public for areas such as broken and uplifted concrete sidewalks, curb ramps, driveway approaches and street sections. Public Works Department compiles resident requests and investigates them to assess the damage and potential hazard to pedestrians. In addition to the ongoing repairs completed by Public Works Maintenance and Operations Staff, Engineering Division regularly manages projects that can address many locations at once, prioritizing locations based on severity, budget constraints, and previous maintenance measures. This Project addresses infrastructure repairs citywide at various locations. Since sidewalk uplift at many locations is mainly attributed to parkway tree root intrusion, tree root trimming is also part of the scope, and the City Arborist shall be consulted.

The bid documents include both the construction exhibits and specifications that have been prepared by engineering staff.




FISCAL ANALYSIS
