PROCLAMATION
52nd ANNUAL GARDEN SHOW WEEKEND
WHEREAS the Culver City Garden Club a community organization sponsored by the City s Parks Recreation and
Community Services Department was organized in 1953 by a few friends who shared a strong passion for gardening and
WHEREAS this passion has continued over the past 52 years and today there are over 100 Club members who meet once a
month to discuss a vanety of garden related topics to stimulate interest in gardening and
WHEREAS featured speakers at the meeting have addressed such topics as opossum rescue passion flowers creating a
butterfly garden and growing eco friendly roses and
WHEREAS this year marks the 52 d Anniversary of the Culver City Garden Club s Annual Garden Show and Sale which is
scheduled for the weekend of July 16 17 2005 in the Veterans Memorial Auditorium and
WHEREAS this year s event will be directed by Steve Coker and Lloyd Smith show Co Chairs and Larry Ebner Club
President and
WHEREAS hundreds of plants that have been judged by community members as the best of the best of the local gardener
will be showcased and
WHEREAS informational tables and speakers will feature edible landscaping beneficial insects composting soil
preparation propagating plants and environmental issues
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Culver City California hereby declares the
weekend of Saturday July 16 and Sunday July 17 2005 as Garden Show Weekend in Culver City and invites everyone to
participate in celebrating the many earthly delights of gardening
