Lamont Ewell (06/10/10) RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends the City Council adopt a resolution appointing the Transportation Director as Member and the Transit Operations Manager as Alternate Member to the CalTIP Board of Directors. BACKGROUND: The City is a member of CalTIP which provides liability insurance to transit agencies in the States of California and Nevada. CalTIP is a joint powers insurance authority organized under California law in 1987 in response to the limited availability of liability insurance coverage from the commercial insurance market. CalTIP combines the resources of public transit agencies to minimize risk increase buying power and provide stable affordable insurance to its members. DISCUSSION: CalTIP is governed by a Board of Directors comprised of representatives of member transit agencies.
