RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends the City Council provide direction to the City Manager related to vacancies on the Parks, Recreation, and Community Services Commission and the Landlord-Tenant Mediation Board.


BACKGROUND:

Over the past several weeks, two vacancies have arisen: one on the Parks, Recreation and Community Services Commission and the other on the Landlord-Tenant Mediation Board (Tenant Position). Staff is requesting direction from the City Council on the issue of if/when to commence advertisement for applicants for these vacancies.


DISCUSSION:

Parks, Recreation, and Community Services (PRCS) Commission Vacancy:

Kelly Kent, who resigned from the PRCS Commission after being elected to the Culver City Unified School District Board of Education, leaves a seat with an unexpired term which ends on June 30, 2016.

Please note: At their meeting of December 1, 2015, the PRCS Commission conveyed its viewpoint that the City Council should fill this vacancy as quickly as possible. Additionally, Mr. John Lopez visited the City Clerk's Office in December and expressed his interest in completing an application for the PRCS Commission. The City Clerk advised him to pos...
