RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends the Standing Governance Subcommittee discuss the updates to Culver City's new elections webpage as well as the updated Public Campaign Disclosure Portal, and provide direction to staff, as needed.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
This update and virtual tour aim to enhance transparency in the campaign process, following the efforts of the Standing Governance Subcommittee. It presents changes to the new election webpage, which now includes updated information on prospective candidates' activities for the upcoming election. A dedicated section outlining how to run for city council has also been added, all in a user-friendly format.
In addition to the election webpage redesign, NetFile, the City's campaign finance filing system, has introduced significant improvements to the Public Campaign Disclosure Portal. These enhancements enable the public to search for campaign finance data using various methods, such as transactions, entities, measures, contributions by date, and more.
A concern was raised at the April 1, 2026 meeting pertaining to campaign ads and mailers being circulated. In response, candidates are asked to provide the City Clerk's Office with samples of their potential campaign materials.
