BACKGROUND: The City Council has received complaints regarding the size and design of new large single family developments in the City and has directed staff to provide background information analysis and recommendations regarding potential development regulations. DISCUSSION: What is Mansionization? Mansionization is typically defined as the practice of replacing older smaller homes with the largest home permitted under the City s Zoning Code that is much larger than surrounding dwellings and which because of its size changes the scale and character of a neighborhood.
