Nachbar (12/09/10) RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends the City Council adopt an Ordinance accepting the requirements of the Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) relating to the recruitment and training of public safety dispatchers. BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION: At the City Council meeting of December 6 2010 the City Council introduced this Ordinance by a unanimous vote. The Ordinance is brought back tonight for adoption. By adopting this Ordinance the Police Department is eligible for reimbursement of certain expenses pertaining to P.O.S.T. training of the City s dispatchers. Adopting this ordinance fulfills a requirement of the Penal Code. It is not necessary that this ordinance be codified into the Culver City Municipal Code. FISCAL ANALYSIS: If a dispatcher takes the basic 120 hour P.O.S.T certified Dispatcher course reimbursable expenses for the training would include a per diem and travel expenses (mileage).
