RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends the Economic Development Subcommittee discuss potential Media Park Activations.
BACKGROUND / DISCUSSION
Media Park Activations
Media Park is a 1.2-acre park adjacent to Downtown Culver City that is managed by the City of Culver City through a long-term lease with the City of Los Angeles. The park is also home to the historic Ivy Substation, currently leased to The Actors' Gang. The park has occasional activations during summer but is mostly considered a passive use space.
In the past couple months, there have been discussions with Parks, Recreation and Community Services and Economic Development relative to the exploration of various events and programs that could activate the park on a more regular basis and encourage enhance the vitality of the park and surrounding area.
Potential activation discussed included:
o Jazz Brunch/Picnic
o Wellness/Yoga
o Light Art Installation Event
o Artisan Marketplace
o Night Food Market
o Celebration Nights (Jugglers/Art/Music)
o Lunar New Year / Lantern Festival
o Winter Marketplace
