RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends that the Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration & Juneteenth Celebration Advisory Committee receive and file an evaluation from the Committee Members concerning the Juneteenth Event that took place on June 21, 2025.


BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION

The Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration and Juneteenth Celebration Advisory Committee (Advisory Committee)'s bylaws, Section 5, lists the types of meetings that the Advisory Committee can have. The Post-Event Meeting is defined as follows:

The Post-Event Meeting of the Committee shall be held at the next scheduled meeting of the Committee after the conclusion of each of the Events. At this time the Committee, may receive written reports related to the Events, discuss any problems experienced during the Events and consider proposals for improvements to future Events.

On May 18, 2025, staff requested that all reports from staff's perspective be presented at a later meeting in order to allow staff time to review the data and prepare the presentation.
