RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends the City Council approve a general services agreement with Ayala Sewer Contractors in an amount not-to-exceed $59,750 to replace a sewage pump located in the basement of the Police Station; CIP Project No. PZ-132 (Building Repairs).


BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION

The basement of the Police Station has a pit containing sewage that is automatically pumped out and into the City's sewer main. The pump has failed and cannot be repaired. As a result, staff is manually removing sewage from the pit each day.

The pump's replacement falls under the "Exceptions to Bidding Requirements" of Culver City Municipal Code ?3.07.055.I which includes "contracts for professional or general services as set for in ?3.07.065. ?3.07.065 A states the City may award purchase orders and contracts in any amount for professional or general services provided the purchase order or contract shall be based upon competitive quotations. ?3.07.065 C.5 states general services shall include repair and maintenance service for equipment, machinery or other City-owned personal property.
