BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION: The City has been awarded funding from the 2011 Urban Areas Security Initiative (UASI) Grant Program. The grant is administered through the United States Department of Homeland Security. This grant is essential for local preparedness. The City of Culver City is fortunate to be located within a region that was given funding priority by the Federal Government for the purpose of disaster preparedness and terrorism related event mitigation. In order to be eligible for UASI grant funding agencies must engage in projects that meet identified national state and local priorities and these projects are required to be regional in nature with multi jurisdictional and preferably multi disciplined benefits. The City worked closely with its regional partners and the Los Angeles County Police Chiefs Association to identify specific projects that would be beneficial to all of the area law enforcement agencies.
