Fulwood (12/14/06) Staff recommends that the City Council approve a contract with the Law Firm of Goldstein & Goldstein to provide representation to the City on all matters related to Teamsters Petition for Recognition and Modification/Decertification. DISCUSSION On May 1 2006 Teamsters filed a Petition for Recognition and Modification/Decertification seeking to modify the existing general service bargaining unit and establish a separate bargaining unit consisting solely of bus operators. This petition resulted in a two day hearing in August and finally a recommendation by a neutral fact finder that concluded a bargaining unit consisting solely of bus operators was not appropriate under the City s Employee Relations Ordinance and State law. Teamsters also filed an unfair labor practice complaint with the Public Employment Relations Board (PERB).
