Fulwood (02/04/09) Attachments: X RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends the City Council approve a professional services agreement with ACC&IM for Emergency Veterinary Services. BACKGROUND: On November 10 2008 the City Council approved the authorization to enter into a contract with spca LA for the implementation of sheltering services. The City Council also authorized staff to release a Request for Proposals (RFP) for emergency veterinary services to stabilize animals as needed before their transport by the City Animal Services Officer to spca LA shelter. Staff released an RFP on December 4 to 27 veterinarians in and around Culver City. Staff received two letter proposals from local veterinarians ACC&IM and Fox Hills Animal Hospital. Police Department and City Manager s office staff reviewed both proposals and interviewed both veterinarians in January 2009. ACC&IM stated that an emergency exam would be billed at $60 per animal per exam and the basic stabilization and treatment for injured animals would cost between $250 $300 depending on the type and severity of the injury.
