Arnold Schwarzenegger signed a six bill budget package designed to trim expenses in the state s current fiscal year (FY 2007 08). The package contains a variety of program cuts payment deferrals and other mechanisms designed to address cash flow issues in the current fiscal year and some budget savings in FY 2008 09. For more see Page 2. LAO RELEASES ALTERNATIVE STATE BUDGET PROPOSAL The Legislative Analyst's Office (LAO) on Wednesday Feb. 20 released its annual Analysis of the Budget Bill. This analysis includes an alternative to Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger s FY 2008 09 proposed budget. The LAO proposal contains a variety of significant spending reductions and some revenue enhancement proposals involving the elimination of various tax breaks and exemptions. For more see Page 2.
