RECOMMENDATION

Members of BPAC will receive a presentation regarding the Livable Communities Initiative, discuss, provide staff with feedback, and/or, with consensus, make a recommendation to City Council.

BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION

The Livable Communities Initiative (LCI) will present their proposal for walkable, bikeable, transit-accessible, and naturally affordable housing. LCI is a local, grassroots organization with a vision to build architecturally beautiful residential housing above existing retail properties, providing desperately needed affordable housing, offering more retail amenities to nearby residents, and enabling existing local businesses to keep their parcels without selling to big developers. To succeed with this housing typology in Culver City, the City would need to pass some building and zoning code changes for its small-lot commercial corridors.
