Nachbar (08/03/11) RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends the City Council approve the final plans and specifications and authorize the publication of a notice inviting bids for the Washington Boulevard/Boise Avenue Pedestrian Crossing Signal Project P 934. BACKGROUND: The length between the signalized intersections of Washington Boulevard/Zanja Street and Washington Boulevard/Centinela Avenue is approximately 1 800 feet. The proposed pedestrian crossing signal across Washington Boulevard at Boise Avenue will nearly bisect this 1 800 length in order to create a shorter distance between signalized crossings along this section of Washington Boulevard. The long walking distance between the existing signalized intersections coupled with the recent development in the area increase the need for the proposed pedestrian crossing signal.
