RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends that the Parks, Recreation and Community Services (PRCS) Commission receive and file the PRCS Commission's Fiscal Year 2025-2026 budget recommendations letter to the City Council.


BACKGROUND/ DISCUSSION

At their March 18, 2025, Special Meeting, the PRCS Commission reviewed their fiscal year 2025-2026 budget letter to City Council (Attachment 1). At that time, the letter was approved unanimously by the PRCS Commission with amendments that were to be made by Vice Chair Maggie Peters with support from Chair Alexander.

The final letter includes the following recommendations:

* Staffing: In regard to full-time staff, the letter recommends reclassifying the Senior Management Analyst position to a Deputy Director position and funding the following new positions: One Senior management Analyst, One Management Analyst, and Two Maintenance Worker I. For part-time staff, the letter recommends providing increased wages and benefits to the staff at the Plunge in order to compete with neighboring jurisdictions.
* Playground Maintenance: The letter recommends increasing the operating budget in the Parks Division in order to better fund ongoing playground maintenance.
