RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends the City Council adopt a Resolution to accept a grant award in the amount of $35,000 from the National Fitness Campaign and allocate funds for an outdoor Fitness Court(r) at Tellefson Park or Culver City Park as part of the 2026 National Fitness Campaign.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
The National Fitness Campaign (NFC) is a wellness consulting organization that partners with municipalities to develop outdoor Fitness Court(r) facilities designed to promote free, accessible public fitness. Through its Healthy Cities Campaign, NFC aims to fund 5,000 outdoor Fitness Courts(r) nationwide.
On January 26, 2026, the City Council, with full support from the Parks, Recreation and Community Services Commission, approved submission of the grant application. On February 13, 2026, the City received confirmation of a $35,000 grant award to participate in the 2026 NFC Healthy Cities Campaign.
The National Fitness Campaign believes each Fitness Court(r) Studio is a long-term partnership with the municipality that installs it. By bringing the Fitness Court(r) to Culver City, the City will become part of the National Campaign network spotlighting Culver City as a community focused on health and fitness.
