BACKGROUND: HHW is any material discarded from homes that may threaten human health or the environment when disposed of improperly. Examples of HHW include pesticides and cleaning products and paint. The Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle) offers competitive HHW Grant Program pursuant to Section 47200(a) of the Public Resources Code to assist local governments in implementing safe HHW programs which may include public education source reduction reuse recycling and collection events.
