BACKGROUND: The Culver City Fire Department has sought City Council approval for a number of issues related to the ICIS program. To date approval has been received for the following: On August 4 2005 the City Council authorized a Joint Powers Agreement (JPA) with several other Cities in Los Angeles County in order to establish the Interagency Communications Interoperability System (ICIS). On October 24 2005 the City Council appropriated several significant grant funds to allow the Fire Department to upgrade our existing radio system and to install infrastructure to support ICIS. On October 24 2005 the City Council approved the contract award for the ICIS upgrade of the City s radio system to Motorola Inc. Tonight in addition to this staff report the issue of participating in the ICIS joint resolution of City Councils of each ICIS participating agency is also scheduled for review/approval.
