RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends the City Council approve a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the City of Los Angeles and the County of Los Angeles, the Los Angeles County Flood Control District, and the Cities of Beverly Hills, Culver City, Inglewood and West Hollywood Regarding the Cost Sharing and Implementation of the Ballona Creek Bacteria TMDL Project.


BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION

On December 28, 2012, the Los Angeles County Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System Permit (MS4 Permit) became effective in accordance with the Clean Water Act. The Los Angeles MS4 Permit covers unincorporated areas of Los Angeles County, the Los Angeles County Flood Control District, and 84 cities within Los Angeles County, including the City of Culver City. Culver City takes a regional approach at compliance by partnering with other agencies within the watershed for annual reporting, water quality monitoring, project implementation and other tasks.
