RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends the City Council discuss the re-naming of various conference
rooms in City Hall and direct staff as deemed appropriate.
BACKGROUND:
At the November 5, 2007 City Council meeting, the City Council directed staff to
request input from the Culver City Historical Society for further consideration by the
City Council regarding the re-naming of the Cathedral and Patio Conference Rooms.
At the City Council Meeting, staff also indicated Conference Room 1B in City Hall is
currently unnamed.
DISCUSSION:
The Culver City Historical Society has provided staff a memo dated January 15,
2008 (Attachment 1). The memo provides background and input as to potential
names for the conference rooms as well as historical information on the naming of
rooms in City Hall, City streets and parks.
FISCAL ANALYSIS:
The cost to purchase the signs is $15 per sign, with the installation to be completed
by Public Works Department staff. Public Works staff indicates it can cover these
costs through the department’s budget.
