RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends the City Council approve an agreement with UTC Fire and Security (Transit Marketing Group) for the acquisition and installation of video surveillance equipment in an amount not-to-exceed $187,156.
BACKGROUND
The Transportation Department relies heavily on the quality and security of the video surveillance systems integrated on its fleet of public transit buses. Transit Market Group is the sole distributor of the GE Mobile systems used by transit agencies in the Western United States. This camera system also integrates with the Department's SmartBus system as the software protocols have been created for such use.
DISCUSSION
The Transportation Department is in the process of upgrading the video surveillance systems on its transit bus fleet. The new cameras will greatly enhance the picture and video quality to provide better clarity and defined details of the image captures.
