Nachbar (06/01/11) RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that the City Council approve an amendment to the existing professional services agreement for services with Dr. David Eisner as Medical Director of the City s Emergency Medical Services Program for an additional five years. BACKGROUND: The Culver City Fire Department created the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Medical Director contract in 1998 to fill an urgent need for medical oversight of the Emergency Medical Services program. Dr. David Eisner was selected to provide these services and an Agreement was approved on February 1 1998. Some of the Medical Director s responsibilities include: Assists with EMS Strategic Planning. Authorize the purchase of medications and other supplies. Conduct evaluations and quality improvement studies. Address paramedic safety issues (communicable disease exposures).
