RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration & Juneteenth Celebration Advisory Committee Approve the History and Education Ad Hoc Subcommittee's Informational Display Boards on Voting Rights.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
The History and Education Ad Hoc Subcommittee was established July 23, 2025. This is an opportunity for them to present the Informational Display Boards focused on Voting Rights (Attachment 1), which will be displayed at the upcoming Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration 2026 event in the Rotunda Room.
The History and Education Ad Hoc Subcommittee chose to focus on the history of voter suppression in America as an educational supplement to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s message. The boards are arranged chronologically and gradually shift from back and white to color as the viewer approaches the current time. The headings are:
