RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends the City Council appoint a member to the General Plan Advisory Committee (GPAC).

BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION

In August 2020, Sierra Smith resigned as a Member of the GPAC. Sierra Smith was one of the three GPAC Members Council Member Lee appointed initially in June 2018. As such, on September 29, 2020, the City Council requested that Council Member Lee find a replacement.

Upon resigning, Sierra Smith provided staff with a recommendation for someone interested in the position. Staff provided the recommendation to Council Member Lee for consideration.

Council Member Lee notified staff that his recommendation for replacement is Dominique DjeDje. Ms. DjeDje was raised in Culver City and has returned to raise her daughters here so that they may experience "the schools, parks, shopping, safety, convenience of a small town, the influence of a city" and the "kindness of folks walking down the street as well as the diversity." She currently serves as the Chair of the Diversity Equity and Inclusion committee at her daughter's school and is starting her third year on the School Board of Trustees. Upon appointment, Ms. DjeDje would serve on the GPAC until the City Council discharges or disbands the GPAC or until they resign or are removed as the GPAC does not have term limits.
