RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the Civil Service Commission approve the revised Classification Specification and Open and Competitive Recruitment Bulletin for Park Maintenance Supervisor.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
In anticipation of conducting an open and competitive recruitment for Park Maintenance Supervisor, Human Resources staff in concurrence with Park, Recreation and Community Services Department management have determined that revisions to the classification specification are necessary. The proposed revisions a) attract better informed and qualified applicants and b) reflect the experience needed to perform the essential duties of the position.
DISCUSSION
The classification specification has been reviewed to ensure consistency with operational practice and updated to reflect essential job duties and skill sets required to be successful in the position. Revisions were made to the following sections:
* Definition: This section has been updated to include the maintenance of median strips, parkways and landscaped areas.
* Supervision Received and Exercised: Language was updated in this section to provide clarification regarding the incumbents reporting to this position.
