Nachbar (07/07/11) RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends the City Council consider a proposal to co sponsor the Culver City Small Business Opportunities Seminar organized by the Office of State Controller John Chiang and direct the City Manager as deemed appropriate. BACKGROUND: The Office of John Chiang California s State Controller has approached the City to hold the Culver City Small Business Opportunities Seminar (Seminar) in the City Council Chambers on Friday August 5 2011. City Council Policy 4008 states the City Council Chambers may also occasionally be used as a meeting place or forum for other limited governmental purposes including use by other public agencies concerning public matters as authorized by the City. Use of the Council Chambers for this purpose would be consistent with the Policy and with past practice. As such the City Council Chambers have been tentatively reserved for the Seminar on Friday August 5 2011.
