Fulwood (02/22/2007) Staff recommends the City Council adopt a Resolution requesting the Public Employees Retirement System (PERS) to extend the 960 hour calendar year maximum for Andrea Daroca Interim Chief Financial Officer Designate and PERS retiree. BACKGROUND: The services of Andrea Daroca a PERS retiree were engaged by the City of Culver City by the City Manager on June 15 2006 in the roll of financial consultant. As a PERS Retiree Ms. Daroca can be employed by a PERS agency for up to 960 hours in any calendar year without forfeiting her retirement benefits. Per California Public Employees Retirement Law Article 8 Section 21221 (Retirement Law) entitled Conditions and Limitations on Service After Retirement A retired person may serve without reinstatement from retirement or loss or interruption of benefits provided by this system as follows: (h) Upon appointment by the governing body of a contracting agency to a position deemed by the governing body to be of a limited duration and requiring specialized skills or during an emergency to prevent stoppage of public business.
