RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends the City Council (1) authorize acceptance of grant funds from the Metro Active Transportation (MAT) Program in the amount of $1,956,529 for the Culver City E Line Bike and Bus Lane Project; and (2) approve a related budget amendment to appropriate the grant funds (four-fifths vote required).
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
On January 20, 2021, the City received confirmation from the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) that Culver City's Metro Active Transportation (MAT) application for pedestrian and bicycle improvements around the Culver City E Line station was selected for funding. The project scope incudes:
* Class IV separated bikeway along Robertson Boulevard between Venice Boulevard and Washington Boulevard
* Class IV separated bikeway along Washington Boulevard between Landmark Avenue and Helms Avenue
* Bus only lanes along Robertson Boulevard and Washington Boulevard
* Establishment of bus boarding islands
* Pedestrian improvements including lighting, sidewalks, crosswalks, ADA compliant curb ramps, canopy trees, and street furniture
* Relocation and establishment of bus boarding islands
