Fulwood (08/08/07) RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends the City Council adopt the resolution approving the contribution cap for PERS medical insurance for the Police Management Group (PMG) effective from October 1 2007 to December 31 2007. BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION: The City provides medical insurance coverage through the Public Employees Retirement System (PERS) to employees retirees and their eligible dependents. The City recently concluded negotiations with the PMG and a new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was adopted by City Council on July 16 2007. Tonight staff is requesting that the City Council adopt a resolution establishing the new employee and employer contribution on behalf of the PMG for the various PERS medical insurance plans consistent with the contributions already established for the other five (5) City bargaining units.
