RECOMMENDATION
Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee (BPAC) will receive presentations and may discuss and provide feedback regarding planned studies and proposed improvements along National Blvd.
BACKGROUND
At their March 20, 2025, meeting, the BPAC agendized a discussion on traffic safety concerns on National Blvd between Jefferson Blvd and Washington Blvd. Particular emphasis was placed on the intersection of Washington Blvd & Wesley St where a pedestrian had been recently struck and killed by a vehicle. That intersection has a history of traffic incidents. The intersection also experiences significant bicycle/pedestrian traffic due to the adjacent Turning Point at the southwest corner of the intersection and the Expo Bike Path that runs parallel to National Blvd on the north side.
The Committee discussion also focused on the sidewalk along the south side of National Blvd, which is not ADA compliant and difficult to maneuver, in part because of utility installations along the street. Also, the Committee discussed the possibility of measures that could help slo...
