RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends the City Council award a contract to Superior Pavement Markings (Superior), as the lowest responsive and responsible bidder, in an amount not-to-exceed $341,020 ($308,500 base bid and $32,520 in change order authority) for the construction of the Washington Boulevard Striping and Bike Lane Project, PZ-965.


BACKGROUND

The existing lane line striping and pavement markings on Washington Boulevard west of Sepulveda Boulevard to the westerly City boundary of Walnut Avenue/Del Rey Avenue are faded and need to be repainted. The Project includes removal of the existing lane lines and markings, adjusting the striping of new lane lines to accommodate creation of the bike lanes and 'sharrows.' The Project will utilize a lane line enhancement technique of highlighting the white lane line markings with a black paint frame to increase lane line visibility on the concrete surface.
