A Proclamation Proclaiming May as Older Americans Month.

P R O C L A M A T I O N
OLDER AMERICANS MONTH
WHEREAS, for the past 42 years, the month of May has been proclaimed as “Older Americans Recognition Month”
throughout the United States; and
WHEREAS, the City of Culver City takes great pride in the contributions made to our community by our older Americans
including volunteer services that enrich and touch the lives of children, adults, and their fellow seniors alike; and
WHEREAS, Americans are living longer than ever before with record numbers of our citizens living full and productive lives
well into their 80’s, 90’s and beyond; and
WHEREAS, the Culver City Senior Center programs and services have received international, national and statewide acclaim
in fostering the highest quality of life possible for its senior citizens; and
WHEREAS, the Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department of this City, through its Senior Center, will provide
numerous special activities for its senior citizens during the entire month of May.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council proclaims May, 2006 as “Older Americans Month” and
encourages our seniors, their neighbors, families, and friends of all ages to join in the month-long programs provided at the Culver
City Senior Center and other designated locations throughout the City.
