RECOMMENDATION
That the Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee (BPAC or Committeeee) discuss and provide staff with input regarding a proposed name change for the body and potential expansion of its purpose. The Committee may also review its Bylaws generally and consider other amendments.
BACKGROUND/ DISCUSSION
At the June 8, 2026 meeting of City Council, Council received consensus to consider changing the name of the Bicycle & Pedestrian Advisory Committee, potentially changing it to the Mobility Advisory Committee.
At the June 30, 2026 Mobility Subcommittee Meeting, Council Members further elaborated and asked for consideration to not only change the name of the Committee but potentially expand its intended purpose.
Although the purpose and objectives listed in the current BPAC Bylaws is broad, active mobility (walking, biking) has always been the Committee's focus.
Currently, the Bylaws (approved by City Council on 01/12/2024) describe the intended purpose and objectives of BPAC in section 1.
