RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends the City Council authorize staff to advertise for bids for
Landscape Maintenance Services.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION:
In July 2004, after a competitive bid process, the City entered into a contract with
Proscape Landscape, a landscape maintenance contractor, for landscape
maintenance services for the City’s parks, medians, public facilities, and streetscape
areas. This was a two-year contract expiring on June 30, 2006. At the end of the
contract, the City Council authorized staff to continue the contract for an additional
year. The current contract will expire on June 30, 2007.
Staff will be soliciting bids for service from private contractors based upon two
categories:
1) Level 1 Services: Existing Services. This is the cost to maintain the current level
of service as it has been for the past two years.
2) Level 2 Services: Enhanced Services. This is the cost for an enhanced level of
services that exceeds the existing level.
Should the City Council authorize staff to advertise for bids, the following table
provides tentative dates for the next steps in this process:

California, for furnishing the following:
PROVIDE LANDSCAPE MAINTENANCE SERVICES
in strict accordance with the Specifications on file in the office of the CITY
PURCHASING OFFICER, 4343 Duquesne Avenue, Culver City, California, 90232.
Copies of specifications and bid documents may be obtained from the PURCHASING
OFFICE at that address, telephone number (310) 253-6550.
Original and two copies of the bid must be filed with the CITY CLERK in CITY HALL,
9770 Culver Boulevard, Culver City, California, 90232, not later than 3:00 p.m. on May
10, 2007, at which time they will be publicly opened in the Council Chambers on the
first floor of City Hall. Facsimile bids will not be accepted. Any bidder may withdraw his

A withdrawal will not be effective unless made personally or by telephonic notification

1. Clean paved pedestrian areas and sidewalks.
2. Remove weeds, litter, trash, debris, animal waste and cigarette butts, from planters, pots,
pedestrian paving, sidewalks, decomposed granite walkways, street tree grates, tree wells
below grates, gravel bed and landscaped areas.
3. Mow grass once a week only on Monday, 2" high (maximum) using "mulching-type" mowing
equipment.
4. Prune shrubs and hedges clear of sidewalks, decomposed granite walkways, sitting areas and
