RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends the City Council (1) ratify General Fund expenditures to Technology Artists for the 2024 Summer Concert Series and the 2024 Culver City Jazz Festival in an amount not-to-exceed $19,378.98; and (2) approve a general services agreement with Technology Artists in an amount not-to-exceed $49,980 for the 2025 Summer Concert Series.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
For more than 20 years, the City has hosted a free summer concert series on Thursday evenings from June through September in the City Hall Courtyard, offering high-quality cultural programming for residents and attracting visitors to Downtown Culver City.
Historically, the series was produced in partnership with Boulevard Music through a Memorandum of Understanding, with funding provided by the City, sponsorships, and in-kind contributions. This arrangement concluded prior to 2023. Following a pause from 2020 to 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the series resumed in 2023, with the City directly funding and coordinating the events in partnership with local performers and vendors, supplemented by sponsorships and in-kind contributions.
