RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends the City Council approve the final plans and specifications and authorize the publication of a notice inviting bids for Basketball Court Replacement at Blair Hills Park and Culver West Alexander Park, PZ-640.


BACKGROUND/ DISCUSSION

In July 2022, Public Works issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) to the City Council approved list of on-call civil engineering firms for engineering design services for basketball court replacement at Blair Hills Park and Culver West Alexander Park to include topographic survey, demo, drainage, grading, and new PCC court construction plans. The city received two proposals as a result of the RFP. After receiving and reviewing the proposals, Kreuzer Consulting Group (KCG) was the lowest bid and was issued a Notice to Proceed on October 6, 2022, for engineering design services.

The design has been completed, reviewed, and approved by Public Works Department and Parks, Recreation, and Community Services Department staff. The new basketball courts will replace the existing asphalt pavement courts with PCC concrete material, allowing for a longer life span of the courts.
