RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends the City Council (1) award a construction contract in the amount of $533,762 to CJ Concrete Construction, Inc., as the lowest responsive and responsible bidder, for the construction of Sidewalk, Curb Ramp and Driveway Approach Replacement Project, PZ-428 and PCC Pavement Replacement Project, PS-001; and (2) authorize the Public Works Director to approve change orders in an amount not-to-exceed $133,440.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
The City receives maintenance requests from the public for uplifted concrete sidewalks, curb ramps, driveway approaches and street sections. The Public Works Department compiles resident requests and investigates them to assess the damage and potential hazard to pedestrians. Typically, the Maintenance Operations Division installs asphalt ramps at uplifted sidewalks to prevent the public from potentially tripping and falling.
