BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
The Equity and Human Relations Advisory Committee (EHRAC) is offering a Civil Discourse Workshop to help facilitate meaningful and community-building conversations about controversial and potentially divisive matters of importance to the Culver City community. In the past, strong opinions about controversial issues have sometimes evolved into anger towards other members of the community. This Workshop is open to everyone such as community leaders, residents, business owners, persons who work in the City, or anyone interested in this vital issue. This Workshop will train participants about Civil Discourse, and participants will also create recommended civil discourse guidelines for our community.
The Civil Discourse Workshop is designed to have two sessions. The first session will be from 10:00am - 12:00pm and it will include Civil Discourse Training held by the Institute for Civility in Government (ICG). The second session will be from 1:00pm - 3:00pm and the Equity and Human Relations Advisory Committee will create guidelines based on information learned in the workshop and with input from participant(s).
