RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends the City Council approve a Purchase Order with Botach Inc. for the purchase of 120 ballistic helmets, 120 face shields, and 120 face shield covers in the amount of $35,094.31.

BACKGROUND

In 2000, the Police Department purchased ballistic helmets and face shields to be used by sworn personnel in the performance of their duties. The Police Department's current stock of helmets are outside the manufacturer's recommended replacement schedule.
Ballistic helmets are a required piece of police equipment and are used for high risk perimeter searches, search warrant service, and crowd and riot control. The removable face shields are needed for crowd and riot control operations, as they protect the wearer's face and eyes. The face shield covers protect shields from damage during storage.

1. Security Pro USA $28,245.50
2. Botach Inc. $35,094.31
3. Lawmen's Shoders Supply Inc. (helmets not included in bid) $ 8,640.86
4. LC Action Police Supply $43,559.10...
