Nachbar (02/19/13) RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends the City Council approve the final plans and specifications and authorize advertising for bids for the Citywide Sidewalk Repair Project P 428. BACKGROUND On June 13 2011 the City Council approved a professional services agreement with Project Partners for Citywide Sidewalk Inspection Services. The services included measuring and documenting all significant sidewalk displacements ( uplifts ) or damage and incorporating their findings into an electronic database that would be used by the City to prioritize future repairs. Project Partners surveyed all of the sidewalks in Culver City and rated them based on the severity of the uplift. The result of the Inspection Project was the identification of approximately 20 000 damaged or uplifted sidewalk segments with the majority (75%) being rated as mildly uplifted. All of the uplifts are caused by tree roots. DISCUSSION: Staff reviewed the inspection results and developed construction plans and specifications to address the sidewalk conditions.
