RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends the Cultural Affairs Commission (CAC) consider the information provided by staff during the workshop and provide comments as appropriate.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
At its regular meeting on September 8, 2015, the CAC considered an action item pertaining to the necessity for and scheduling of a workshop to review in greater depth existing Cultural Affairs programs, including the roles of staff and the CAC in implementing these programs. The CAC felt that with three relatively new commissioners and the upcoming Culver City Centennial Celebration, this was an appropriate juncture at which to have such a workshop as a foundation for future planning and coordination purposes.
Staff will make a presentation that will include an overview of the core Cultural Affairs programs (Public Art, Performing Arts Grant Program, and Historic Preservation), providing examples to better describe the tasks involved, timeline and work flow for each.
FISCAL ANALYSIS
There is no additional fiscal impact associated with this action item beyond staff time which is consistent with what is required for a regular meeting of the Cultural Affairs Commission.
ATTACHMENTS
None.
MOTION
That the Cultural Affairs Commission:
1. Receive and file the information as presented; and,
2. Provide comments as deemed appropriate.
