If approved this purchase would be in addition to the two ALPRs approved for purchase by the City Council at the meeting of September 9 2013. BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION: The City has been awarded funding from the 2011 Urban Areas Security Initiative (UASI) Grant Program. The grant is administered through the United States Department of Homeland Security. In order to be eligible for UASI grant funding agencies must engage in projects that meet identified national state and local priorities and these projects are required to be regional in nature with multi jurisdictional and preferably multi disciplined benefits. The City worked closely with its regional partners including the Los Angeles County Police Chiefs Association to identify specific projects that would be beneficial to all of the area law enforcement agencies.
